Centre College's campus in Danville was put on lockdown Friday morning as a result of a double homicide here in Danville, spokesman Michael Strysick said in a news release.

Danville law enforcement officials would not comment on news reports of a fatal double shooting and robbery at a pawn shop.

Strysick said police told him there was a double-homicide at a pawn shop a half mile from campus, and the shooter was at large. He said much of Danville was on lockdown.

An email message said that Centre students were asked to go to a secure building and stay where they were with the doors closed.
